**The Role**
We have a number of exciting roles in the Directorate of Overseas and Housing Policy which is responsible for the development and review of policy relating to overseas service for ADF members and APS employees, as well as domestic housing and relocations policy for the ADF.

In these roles, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic, mixed operational policy team consisting of ADF members and Defence APS employees.

If successful, you will contribute to developing flexible and innovative housing policy solutions for ADF members and reviewing the overseas conditions of service, requiring engagement with personnel overseas, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and other APS agencies. You will achieve this by developing and delivering policy solutions to support Defence capability.

Tasks may include;
- Research, analysis and development in complex housing and overseas conditions policy areas;
- Developing relationships and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders to influence and achieve business outcomes;
- Preparing reports, briefs and other documents for senior leadership and Ministers;
- Providing expert advice on policy;
- Supporting governance structures and decision making processes; and
- Working collaboratively in a team based environment, actively participating in and contributing to team meetings, and supporting the work area and team objectives.

**About our Team**
The Directorate of Overseas and Housing Policy is responsible for the development and review of policy relating to overseas service for ADF members and APS employees, as well as domestic housing and relocations policy for the ADF.

The team undertakes policy analysis to deliver evidence-based policy reform and ensures that the conditions of service policy is contemporary and meets the expectations of personnel and the wider society.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Experience in policy development and analysis or demonstrated transferrable skills;
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and experience building and sustaining positive relationships with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders, and as part of a team;
- Well-developed communication skills including the ability to deliver high quality written policy advice;
- Analytical and problem solving skills;
- A curious mindset and the ability to explore new ways of addressing challenges to support a culture of continuous improvement;
- The ability to work in a changing environment by remaining flexible, agile and adaptable in the face of changing priorities.
