**About the role**
The aim of SURC is to provide a pathway for the rapid assessment, symptom and psychological support to patients, and their families; receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapies (SACT) as well as disease related symptoms.
- Planned/unplanned calls from patients/carers for symptom advice and management
- Planned/unplanned clinical presentations for symptom review/support
- Shared Care Reviews for patients receiving SACT
- Primary point of contact for COVID +ve cancer patients
- Support to BHS at Home Cancer Stream
**Key Responsibilities**
- Lead and develop the SURC service in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Patient assessment and triage
- Support patients receiving SACT
- Provide patient and staff education
- Promotes oncology nursing leadership within the Directorate
**Skills and experience**
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration
- Significant recent oncology/haematology experience
- Demonstrated understanding of the needs of patients receiving SACT
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills
- Highly developed communication skills
- Advanced level computer skills
- Ability to work autonomously
- Team player

**Selection Criteria**
- Essential : Minimum of 4 years oncology/haematology experience
- Essential : At least 2 years working within the Ambulatory Cancer Services setting.
- Essential : Post graduate qualification in Cancer nursing/or relevant health discipline or willingness to undertake.
- Essential : Excellent organizational and time-management skills with an eye for attention to detail
- Essential : Highly developed communication skills
- Essential : Demonstrated understanding of the needs of patients receiving SACT
- Desirable : Sound computer skills
- Desirable : Previous leadership or project role experience would be advantageous.
