About the role

The purpose of this role is to work in partnership with women and families expecting an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander baby through the Redcliffe Ngarrama Maternity Program. This role will provide contemporary, evidence-based family-centred care aimed at improving maternal and infant health outcomes, ensuring cultural safety, and delivering culturally responsive care throughout pregnancy, birth, and the postnatal period. Working within an interprofessional team, this role contributes to achieving optimal health outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and undertake delegated activities while assuming individual accountability for actions within the position and context of practice.

About you

Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with Schedule 8, Nurses, and Midwives (Queensland Health and Department of Education) Certified Agreement (EB11) (2022) - Midwifery Generic Level Statements (GLS) Midwife Grade 5 and the Queensland Health and Metro North Health's commitments and values, in achievement of the organisational goals and Domains of Practice.
Practice in accordance with code of ethics, professional standards and legislation affecting midwifery practice by maintaining current knowledge and competence within scope of position.
Develop in partnership with women individualised care plans for antenatal, postnatal, and intrapartum care and may extend to women's health, sexual or reproductive health, preparation for parenthood and childcare.
Maintain woman and baby safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting.
