**About the role**

Mater Mothers’ Hospitals Brisbane has an exciting opportunity for an experienced and dynamic Endorsed Midwife to join the leadership team to lead **Hatch Private Maternity** and **My Mater Midwives Private MGP Service** in the position of **Midwifery Unit Manager**. This will be in a permanent full-time capacity.

Hatch Private Maternity is a collaboration of obstetricians and endorsed midwives providing a continuum of care to women both within the clinic and at the hospital. The on-call obstetrician is the primary care provider to women birthing in the hospital, with the midwife providing most of the antenatal and postnatal care in the hospital and community.

My Mater Midwives group work in collaboration with Private Obstetricians who are the primary care providers to women accessing this model of care. Each private midwife manages an agreed number of women throughout this journey, offering antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care. My Mater Midwives work collaboratively with like-minded professionals, leveraging inter-disciplinary practice to best meet the needs of women and a family friendly on call roster and working arrangements.

**Salary**:NUM Level 1 (or commensurate with experience) plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

**What you’ll be doing**

In this diverse role you will be responsible for the clinical and operational management of our private midwifery services. Leading strategic planning in helping to build a state-wide endorsed midwifery workforce to influence and grow private midwifery service delivery. The ideal applicant will possess an enthusiastic and mature attitude, demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment and understand the Mater Mission and values.

Other duties and responsibilities include:

- Leading and growing a high performing team of professionals in a dynamic, exciting and collaborative environment
- Promoting and supporting a culture of woman and family centred care
- Engagement with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that services are efficient and patient safety is optimized
- Team management, including performance management and compliance with Human Resources processes
- Delivery of targets against relevant timeframes

**About you**

Suitable applicants for this role will be a Registered or Clinical Midwife with:

- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife with endorsement
- Current advanced clinical knowledge and experience in antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a clinical cost centre
- Tertiary qualification in Midwifery, health administration or management, clinical leadership, budget management and finance (or working towards)
- Advanced clinical competency and the ability to maintain the highest standards of
midwifery practice
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication and time management skills within a multidisciplinary
team
- Competence to lead and manage a clinical team to optimise Private customer and organisational outcomes
- Strong leadership ability and experience, and the desire to promote the Mater mission and values to all staff
