The Delivery Support Officer assists with the coordination and supervision of day-to-day activities of the Delivery Services team, collecting and distributing mail, freight and other items, and the collection and disposal of classified waste. This officer also responds to requests from a range of clients, including senators, senators’ staff, and departmental staff. The Delivery Support Officer helps the Delivery Services Supervisor with the administration tasks of the Delivery Services team, including allocating work to others in the team, administration, and liaising with service providers.

The Delivery Support Officer is sometimes called to assist with the work of other parts of the section, including work during Estimates hearings and some committee room support. This work can include setting up committee rooms and supporting committee or Estimates hearings. Depending on the work of the Senate, the Delivery Support Officer may be required to work additional hours in support of meeting delivery deadlines.

As a cooperative team member, the Delivery Support Officer assists others in the section and will carry out additional duties when the section’s workload is high and when others are away. The Delivery Support Officer must be able to multi-skill and be willing to learn and do additional tasks.

All tasks require the Delivery Support Officer to be client-focused, have excellent communication skills and be able to follow direction and policies, including workplace health and safety procedures.

This position requires extensive walking and the lifting and moving of large and heavy items in a safe manner.
