Week in the life of a Workforce Analyst:
Imagine starting your week as a Workforce Analyst in the Strategic Planning and Analytics team, where your work directly shapes the Department's ability to make informed, strategic decisions that are grounded in evidence.
- You dive into workforce data, extracting, manipulating, and analysing workforce datasets using tools like SQL, Python, R, and Power BI. You aim to uncover meaningful and accessible insights that will guide decision making and strategic workforce planning.
- You meet with stakeholders from across the Department. Whether they're technical experts or less familiar with data, you adjust your communication style to ensure your insights and intended outcomes resonate. You share updates on key reporting products, seek feedback to refine your approach, and collaborate on upcoming projects. Building and sustaining these productive relationships is vital to ensuring the delivery of quality data, analytics and reporting.
- On quieter days, you deeply focus on projects like developing Power BI dashboards, aligning them with stakeholder needs, or updating procedures and training materials to enhance understanding of reporting tools. You might also deliver awareness sessions, guiding teams through workforce BI reports.
- Throughout the week, you prioritise your tasks efficiently, balancing individual deliverables with team commitments. You also contribute to regular data cleansing activities, ensuring the integrity and accuracy of workforce data. As you work, you embody the team's and the Department's commitment to equity, respect, and inclusion, enabling a supportive and performant workplace culture.
By week's end, you've delivered actionable insights, supported key projects and strengthened a workplace that values diversity.
As a Workforce Analyst, your work drives informed decisions, supports strategic goals, and creates a meaningful impact across the Department.
