The Team Leader, Equity Programs and Primary Care, provides leadership and strategic direction to advance equitable cancer outcomes in Victoria. The Team Leader will manage a small team of staff and oversee implementation of the Victorian Cancer Screening Framework
- the key framework to drive screening and early detection initiatives outlined in the Victorian Cancer Plan 2020-24. The role involves forming strong stakeholder relationships, both internal and external to the department, and contract management with funded agencies. The Team Leader works closely with the primary care sector to strengthen and embed effective cancer screening quality improvement initiatives across general practice and community health. The role is also critical in championing Aboriginal self-determination and working closely with the Aboriginal Community-Controlled sector. The Team Leader works in partnership with the Australian Government and state jurisdictions to support implementation of the national cancer screening programs and provide authoritative policy advice to drive equitable cancer outcomes.

**Accountabilities**:
As a Team Leader, your responsibilities include, but not limited to:

- Lead a team in providing or contributing to authoritative and expert advice and recommendations consistent with organisational goals and values.
- Manage the allocation of resources within and the outputs required of the work area to achieve service delivery goals and expectations.
- Effectively supervise and provide leadership to a team of employees by:

- leading and supporting individuals to achieve their potential and contribution to organisational goals and outcomes
- modelling behaviours integral to good people management and departmental values
- where relevant, managing and monitoring specific improvement objectives in annual improvement plans relating to the area of responsibility
- pro-actively building and maintaining positive relationships with peers and stakeholders across the organisation.
- Resolve complex operational problems and issues being experienced by team members.
- Develop policy initiatives that meet government and departmental objectives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
- Maintain an understanding of Commonwealth and State legislative and policy reform directions to influence policy development.
- Represent the department on key stakeholder committees and groups concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives and contribute to relevant committee and governance processes.
- Provide timely, high quality and accurate advice to departmental executives and Ministerial officers including identifying emerging issues and anticipating and responding to areas of risk for the government, department and the community.
- Contract manage funded agencies to ensure delivery of contracted functions and projects in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
