**Who we are**
The People, Property and Security Division works in partnership to deliver strategic and operational workforce services that enable and enhance organisational capability. The division provides stewardship, support and services across integrity; conduct; property; fraud and corruption; security; performance management; rehabilitation management; recruitment; learning and development; inclusion and diversity; workforce planning and analytics; workplace relations; people support; culture and health, safety and wellbeing.

The Property and Security Branch is responsible for enhancing the department’s business capability through the effective management of the department’s property portfolio, property enabling functions, protective security, emergency management, as well as a range of corporate site services and commercial contracts nationally.

The Protective Security team leads the department’s governance and physical security capabilities (excluding personnel and information security), including compliance reporting.

**The Job**
The duties include:

- supporting management of the department’s protective security arrangements to ensure compliance with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and other security frameworks including consulting as required with internal and external stakeholders.
- providing strategic input into the management of a range of protective security outputs, including compliance activities, procurement, contracts, and reporting activities.
- supporting the identification and management of departmental enterprise level risks through risk assessments, site inspections and risk mitigation activities relevant to the department’s people, information and assets.
- contributing to the development and implementation of robust protective security frameworks, policies and guidelines owned by the Property and Security Branch.
- supporting delivery of the team’s business as usual activities such as managing national protective security systems, delivering the annual protective security works program, managing helpdesk functions, and delivering training.
- engaging and collaborating with key stakeholders, internal and external, to identify opportunities, achieve outcomes and facilitate cooperation.
- communicating and making balanced decisions using professional judgement, evaluating available information, factoring in risks and being sensitive to context.
- contributing to the identification, development, and implementation of opportunities to improve business management practices and processes.
- providing leadership (where required) to staff, sharing learnings, and supporting others to develop team capability.

**Please note** that the merit pool established through this selection process, which is valid for a period of eighteen months from the date the vacancy was advertised in the Public Service Gazette, may also be used to fill future ongoing vacancies in the branch where the duties are of a similar nature.

**What we are looking for**

- working in protective security within an APS environment
- working with reporting tools, such as Excel.
