Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital is an acute hospital that supports a population of approximately 80,000 and is the only ANZAC Memorial hospital remaining in NSW. Easily accessible to Sydney residents, our team of clinicians, allied health, and support staff works with the community on a shared goal to maintain the delivery of high-quality healthcare in the Blue Mountains region.
An exciting opportunity is now available for an Administration Officer to join the NBMLHD teeam located at Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital in a Permanent Full time role. Consideration will be given to part-time / job-share arrangements.
The Emergency Department and Switchboard Administration Officer is the first point of contact for Blue Mountains District ANZAC Memorial Hospital (BMDAMH) and Springwood Hospital.
The Administration Officer is responsible for providing efficient and effective patient services to the Emergency Department, BMDAMH whilst supporting the department in meeting the National Emergency Access Targets and working within mandatory policies and procedures to ensure:
- Accurate collection of all mandatory patient registration data
- All admitted patients are interviewed and provided with all necessary information to make an informed decision about use of Private Health Insurance
- The identification and recording information regarding Private Patients, Overseas Patients, DVA Patients, MVA Patients and Workers Compensation Patients entering the hospital
- The provision of timely communication support to all clinical staff members
- Duties associated with the transfer and discharge of patients is undertaken promptly and correctly
- Compilation and maintenance of patient health care records
- Provision of exceptional customer service to all patients, relatives, and hospital visitors
- Monies are receipted for items purchased by ambulatory patients
Additionally as the Switchboard Operator the Administration Officer is responsible for providing efficient and effective telephony support services to BMDAMH and Springwood Hospital, working within mandatory policies and procedures to ensure:
- All incoming calls are answered promptly and forwarded to the correct department
- All queries relating to patients are answered in accordance with privacy legislation, always maintaining confidentiality
- Prompt response to incoming REACH calls and escalation to appropriate clinical team as required

**What you will bring to the role**
- Administration and/or Customer Service experience. Including face-to-face (front counter) and phone based. Experience in a hospital or health related field would be highly regarded.
- Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and in a team environment, with demonstrated problem solving, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated computer literacy, including data entry and MS Office experience. Experience with health or related databases would be highly regarded.
- Ability to work in a busy and demanding environment with patients / families who are experiencing distress.
- Understanding of confidentiality, particularly in relation to health information.
- Ability to organise work and set priorities to meet department benchmarks and KPIs
- Ability and willingness to work a 24-hour rotating roster with flexibility and ability to work additional shifts as requested.
