The Employee Relations Specialist delivers strategic and specialist advice to assist the business in managing risks as they relate to our people.
The role works as part of a high performing and customer-responsive Human Resources team working to enhance the capability and performance of EML and its people.
This role reports to the Head of HR Partnering and provides expert advice across a range of HR and ER matters and activities. This includes legislation and award interpretation, performance management, grievances, investigations, advocacy, policy development and change initiatives.
This will be a **permanent** position based in the **Sydney CBD** office, with flexibility to work from home on focus days and work in office on team connection days.
**YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide expert employee relations advice and recommendations to business leaders and Human Resources colleagues
- Monitor Employee Relations metrics, and draw insights to support the development of systems, policies, practices and processes
- Provide coaching and development of team members to uplift capability across employee relations matters.
- Work with the WHS Manager to support the development of systems, policies, practices and processes to mitigate and respond to risks
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation. Maintain awareness of industry developments and trends and respond effectively to changes.
- Provide support, guidance, and representation in relation to Fair Work and other legal matters when required.
- Prepare documents and represent EML for matters before the Fair Work Commission and other tribunals where required
- Advise on and update EML policies in line with organisational and future needs
**ABOUT YOU**
- Solid, demonstrated experience in a similar Employee Relations role, working within a fast-paced business environment
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders
- Demonstrated capacity in providing commercial, risk-based advice to support HR and ER initiatives and people matters
- Training or qualification aligned to Employee Relations eg HR, ER, Employment Law
- Minimum intermediate proficiency in Microsoft office suite
- Experience in advocacy before the Fair Work Commission, including preparation of submissions and representing parties in conciliation.
- Desirable - accreditation in workplace mediation, conciliation and/or dispute settlement
