Job Description

The Library Officer role works as part of the library and information management team to support the mission of an esteemed Australian research institution by providing research and information resources support.

This role has a focus on indexing and abstracting for a comprehensive database, and providing advice and support for cataloguing functions in the team. The successful candidate will also undertake acquisitions, document delivery, circulation and other library and information support tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in a range of library tasks, including acquisitions, circulation, catalogue record creation and review, and inter-library loans.
  • Understands the need to maintain accurate and accessible records with demonstrated attention to detail.
  • Works effectively under pressure with minimal supervision, meets deadlines, prioritises workloads and organises their time effectively and efficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise with external and internal clients and organisations as well as providing training and feedback to team members.
  • Works flexibly as a member of a small team, and is willing to undertake duties consistent with the operations of a small organisation.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Tertiary library qualifications (TAFE or university)
