Job Title: Senior Research Specialist

The Department of the Senate seeks a highly skilled and experienced Senior Research Specialist to provide expert research and writing services in support of committee inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-level research analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to inform committee decisions
  • Develop and deliver briefing papers, background documents, and other written materials in support of committee business
  • Collaborate with team members to arrange local and interstate hearings and other committee activities
  • Support colleagues and act as secretary to a committee as required

Requirements:

  • Exceptional research and writing skills, with ability to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively
  • Good understanding of parliamentary processes and the role of parliamentary committees
  • Ability to think critically and develop innovative solutions to complex problems
