About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join our finance team at Affinity Education. This role will play a critical part in ensuring our financial, tax, and legal responsibilities are met.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation, review, and reporting of financial and tax information, ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and maintaining updated financial processes.
  • Internal Controls: Enforce internal controls to minimize fraud risk, including regular updates to the Internal Control Framework.
  • Process Improvement: Implement process improvements to increase efficiency, reduce manual tasks, lower costs, and enhance financial data accuracy.
  • Financial Analysis: Prepare monthly financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, along with supporting variance analysis for informed business decisions.
  • Leadership: Manage month-end processes, including reconciliations, journal entries, and adherence to accounting standards.
  • Finance Liaison: Act as the finance liaison for property portfolios and support statutory financial statements, audits, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Tax Compliance: Collaborate with external auditors and manage tax submissions, including BAS, FBT, and ATO reporting.
  • Annual Tax Return: Prepare annual tax return documentation and support the Group's tax governance framework.
  • Team Development: Coach and mentor finance team members to drive continuous improvement and develop solutions for financial challenges.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Professional accounting qualification with a proven understanding of financial systems.
  • 5+ years' experience in Financial Accounting.
  • Post-qualified experience in a similar role is an advantage.
