The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled accountant to become a vital part of our finance team in Brisbane. This position presents long-term career advancement opportunities and involves engaging with various projects within the KBR Australian operations.

The ideal candidate will possess over 5 years of relevant experience and be eager to progress into a more senior position. A robust technical accounting foundation and familiarity with accounting standards are essential. You will be responsible for overseeing the accounting functions for a specific business stream and collaborating with teams to drive success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Project Accounting function for a designated business stream, ensuring accurate project reporting, issue identification and resolution, cost analysis, and support for project teams.
  • Foster partnerships with key stakeholders within the business stream to enhance operational goals, providing valuable financial insights and support.
  • Assist in updating forecasts and budgets, collaborating with the business to achieve its objectives.
  • Manage month-end closing processes, addressing issues, conducting labor and cost accounting analysis, and preparing management reports.
  • Provide support throughout the project lifecycle, from initial bidding to project completion.
  • Support Joint Ventures by preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting policies.
  • Facilitate the audit process and assist in the preparation of statutory accounts as needed.
  • Conduct balance sheet and income statement reconciliations as required.

Candidate Profile:

To excel in this role, you should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar field, along with a degree in Finance or Accounting. Strong communication skills and experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Microsoft Dynamics are advantageous.

Additional qualifications include:

  • Membership in a professional organization (CA or CPA).
  • Proficiency in IT, with experience in Power BI and digital applications being a plus.
