Clinical Coding Audit Lead

The primary function of this role is to oversee the coordination of audit teams in response to insurer onsite and remote audits. This involves aligning the team's work programs with internal coding initiatives aimed at improving coding accuracy. The National Clinical Coding Audit Coordinator will provide expert guidance on coding audit matters and foster positive working relationships with HIM teams, hospital coders, and insurer audit teams.
This position requires a high level of integrity and commitment to coding accuracy. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading coding teams with a strong focus on quality and precision
- Developing an excellent understanding of clinical coding using ICD-AM/ACHI and ACS, and how coding data supports DRG classification
- Providing expert advice on coding audit matters and building trust with stakeholders
- Establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with HIM teams, hospital coders, and insurer audit teams
In terms of qualifications, the ideal candidate will possess a Certificate IV in Clinical Classification or equivalent qualification. Experience in external clinical coding auditing is desirable. Additionally, the successful applicant will have strong communication and articulation skills, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement of coding accuracy.
