About the Role

Nexus Inc is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our Community Services team in Devonport. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting clients to access and engage safely in social and recreational activities in the community or in their own home.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support clients to build their capacity, access their community, and achieve their own personal goals
  • Communicate effectively with clients, families, and colleagues as needed, including written, verbal, and non-verbal communication
  • Work independently and as part of a wider team to support positive outcomes for clients
  • Manage emergency situations using the appropriate processes and procedures
  • Assist in the implementation of training programs for clients
About You

We are looking for a candidate who is able to relate to clients as participating members of society, while respecting their level of knowledge and skill. You will need to be able to build rapport with a wide range of people, have a willingness to learn and maintain a positive, open mindset, and possess effective communication skills.

You will also need to have an understanding of the NDIS and its impacts on clients and families, as well as the ability to manage emergency situations and stress. A demonstrated positive approach to the rights of people with disabilities is essential.

Requirements
  • Current National Police Check (no more than 6 months old)
  • Current Working with Vulnerable People Card (with a NDIS endorsement/employment type)
  • Current First Aid certificate (HLTAID011) and medication training (HLTHPS006)
  • Unrestricted Tasmanian Driver's license
  • Certificate of full Covid 19 vaccination (in-line with government requirements)

A pre-employment physical will be required for this role, including drug and alcohol testing.
