Job Summary:

VGC, a leading provider of support services to the UK infrastructure industry, is seeking an experienced Slinger Signaller to join our team. As a Slinger Signaller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of loads on our construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Load Inspection and Preparation: Inspect and prepare loads for lifting, ensuring they are secure and balanced.
  2. Lifting Gear Selection and Attachment: Select and attach appropriate lifting gear (slings, chains, hooks) to the load.
  3. Load Balancing and Securing: Ensure the load is balanced and secure before lifting.
  4. Communication with Crane Operators: Communicate clearly with crane operators using standard hand signals, radio, or other communication devices.
  5. Load Movement Instructions: Provide accurate and timely instructions to ensure the safe movement of loads.
  6. Obstacle Avoidance: Act as the eyes and ears for the crane operator, ensuring obstacles and hazards are avoided.
  7. Lifting Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect lifting equipment and accessories for damage or wear, and report any defects or issues to the appropriate personnel.
  8. Safety Protocols and PPE: Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:

  • 2 years + experience as a Slinger Signaller
  • Blue CPCS NVQ LVL 2 Slingers Card
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
