About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Supervising and Planning Producer to join our team at SBS Arabic TV News. As a key member of our news team, you will be responsible for supervising the content, consistency, quality, legal compliance, workflows, and timely technical delivery of our Arabic News bulletin.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise vision, scripts, GFX, appropriate supers, intros, and request changes where needed.
  • Work under pressure, meeting strict timelines, and ensuring the highest quality of content.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Producer to develop and implement content strategies.
  • Manage and coordinate with the team to ensure timely delivery of content.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders, including producers, editors, and other team members.
  • Stay up-to-date with national and international news, and contextualize daily news for our audience.
  • Ensure compliance with Australia's legal framework and Media Law.
  • Coach and mentor team members to improve their skills and performance.
  • Contribute to the development of a diverse and inclusive work environment.
Requirements
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and broadcast-standard Arabic.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional journalism, with a strong understanding of news and current affairs.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, meeting strict timelines, and ensuring the highest quality of content.
  • Experience supervising and subediting TV content, including vision, scripts, GFX, and appropriate supers.
  • Strong short and long-term planning skills, with the ability to coordinate with the team and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members to improve their skills and performance.
  • Understanding of the importance of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in SBS Charter and a genuine interest in learning more.
  • Experience in providing content across all news platforms, with a strong understanding of video editing and digital media production.
  • Understanding of the diversity within the Arabic-speaking community in Australia.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, email, and digital media editing/production software.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders, including producers, editors, and other team members.
