About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Producer to join our Arabic TV News team at SBS. As a key member of our news team, you will be responsible for supervising and planning the content of our Arabic TV News bulletin, ensuring that it meets the highest standards of quality, consistency, and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and plan the content of the Arabic TV News bulletin, including vision, scripts, GFX, and supers.
  • Ensure that the content is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant to the Arabic-speaking community in Australia.
  • Work closely with the Executive Producer and other team members to develop and implement the news strategy and content plan.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as news gathering and production, to ensure that the content is delivered on time and to the required standard.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the news team and make recommendations for improvement.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in written and spoken English and broadcast standard Arabic.
  • Demonstrated experience in professional journalism, including news gathering, writing, and editing.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, meeting strict deadlines and timelines.
  • Experience in supervising and subediting TV content, including vision, scripts, GFX, and supers.
  • Understanding of national and international news and the ability to contextualize everyday news.
  • Understanding of Australia's legal framework and media law.
  • Strong short and long-term planning skills and coordination within the team and with the rest of the organization.
  • Ability to coach the team on voice delivery and writing to pictures.
  • Understanding of the importance of Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures in SBS Charter and a genuine interest in learning more.
  • Experience in providing content across all news platforms and understanding the craft of video editing.
  • Understanding of the diversity within the Arabic-speaking community in Australia.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word, email, and digital media editing/production software.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally.
