Sheet Metal Technician Job

This is a challenging role that involves operating and maintaining equipment such as laser cutters, press brakes, water jets, and roller machinery.

The successful candidate will be responsible for assembling basic flight hardware which includes torqueing fasteners. They must be able to read basic blueprints to ensure parts are made to engineering specifications to meet customer needs.

Fabrication of complex, tight tolerance parts using various sheet metal materials including steel, aluminum, Pyron, and zouk is also a key requirement of this job.

We are looking for an experienced machine operator who can work effectively in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will have a high mechanical aptitude and be comfortable working with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.

In addition to the above requirements, the successful candidate will need to be able to stand for extended periods (8 hours minimum), stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.

ITAR requirements also apply to this role, specifically that the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, a U.S. lawful permanent resident, a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or an asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain equipment
  • Assemble basic flight hardware
  • Read blueprints to ensure parts are made to engineering specifications
  • Fabricate complex parts using various sheet metal materials

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 1+ years of experience working with machinery in a shop environment

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 5+ years of machine operating experience
  • Experience operating all equipment in a high-volume sheet metal fabrication shop
  • High mechanical aptitude

Additional Requirements:

  • Able to work all shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Comfortable with repetitive movement, bending or twisting, and using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls
