Role Overview

We are seeking skilled and safety-focused professionals to join our seasonal fire crew in North Queensland and Central Queensland.

The successful candidate will be part of a team responsible for carrying out fire preparation, mitigation works and hazard reduction works, operating and maintaining firefighting tools, machinery and vehicles, and supporting fire response operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Carrying out fire preparation, mitigation works and hazard reduction works
  • Operating and maintaining firefighting tools, machinery and vehicles
  • Supporting fire response operations, including frontline firefighting duties when required
  • Performing vegetation management tasks such as weed control and clearing drains
  • Assisting with inspections and reporting on fire readiness activities
Essential Requirements

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work safely, follow directions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in hot, remote and rugged conditions
  • Current manual Driver's Licence (essential)
  • Prior firefighting, rural fire brigade, vegetation or land management experience (desirable)
Crew Member Certifications

The following units are required. Training will be provided to suitable candidates to complete any outstanding units:

  • FWPCOR2210 Follow workplace health and safety policies and procedures in forest and wood products operations
  • PUAEQU001 Prepare, maintain and test response equipment
  • PUAFIR204 Respond to wildfire
  • PUAOPE013 Operate communications systems and equipment
  • PUATEA001 Work in a team
Additional Requirements

You must also have:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and drug & alcohol screen
  • Availability to work on a roster including weekends, public holidays and call-outs during fire danger periods
