Fire Prevention Specialist

The role involves carrying out fire preparation and mitigation works, operating firefighting tools, machinery and vehicles, supporting fire response operations, performing vegetation management tasks such as weed control and clearing drains, and ensuring safety standards are followed.

This is a physically demanding outdoor role that requires flexibility, teamwork and a strong focus on safety. The ideal candidate will be willing to perform extended living away from home rosters, up to 2 weeks duration.

  • Carry out fire preparation and mitigation works in accordance with established protocols.
  • Operate and maintain firefighting tools, machinery and vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Support fire response operations, including frontline firefighting duties when required.
  • Perform vegetation management tasks such as weed control and clearing drains to reduce fuel loads and maintain access tracks.
  • Ensure safety standards are followed for yourself, your crew and the community.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong Communication and Teamwork Skills
  • Ability to work safely, follow directions, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Physical fitness and comfort working outdoors in hot, remote and rugged conditions
  • Current manual Driver's Licence
  • Prior firefighting, rural fire brigade, vegetation or land management experience (desirable)
