Dementia Care Specialist

This role presents an exceptional opportunity to provide high-quality, compassionate care to individuals with severe dementia-related behaviours.

The Repat Neuro-Behavioural Unit (RNBU) offers specialised care for 18 residents with severe dementia-related behaviours. This unique environment necessitates a non-mainstream approach, focusing on transitioning residents to long-term care through a holistic, person-centred journey.

About the Role
  1. Provide caring and compassionate nursing services to consumers living with very severe and extreme behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
  2. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care in a respectful and responsive manner.
  3. Ensure that care is provided in a way that honours the preferences, needs, and values of patients and their caregivers.
  4. Develop positive relationships with patients and their loved ones.
  5. Apply a holistic approach to assessment and care.
  6. Adhere to a 24/7 rotating roster.
Requirements
  1. Registered as a nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current practicing certificate.
  2. Demonstrate competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with relevant standards.
  3. Demonstrate commitment to delivering high-quality, compassionate care to consumers living with dementia who experience associated behavioural and psychological symptoms at very severe to extreme levels.
  4. Experience working with older persons and consumers living with dementia.
