Job Title: Environmental Stewardship Specialist

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessing applications under the Vegetation Management Act 1999 and related frameworks, ensuring regulatory compliance and effective management of Queensland's natural resources.
  • Conducting thorough desktop and field-based vegetation assessments to inform strategic decision-making and drive business outcomes.
  • Providing expert advice to landholders, community members, and stakeholders on environmental sustainability and best practices in natural resource management.
  • Preparing clear, evidence-based reports, briefs, and recommendations for senior officers, supporting informed business planning and policy implementation.
  • Contributing to compliance inspections and enforcement planning, promoting a culture of accountability and transparency within the organization.
  • Supporting continuous improvement, business planning, and policy implementation through collaborative efforts with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively as part of a high-performing team.

Relevant qualifications in a field such as environmental science, natural resource management, or a related discipline are highly regarded.

Experience working in a similar role, particularly in a government agency or public sector organization, would be advantageous.
