  • About the Role:

This role involves providing expert legal advice to drive strategic and operational goals. The ideal candidate will have significant experience as a qualified lawyer with top-tier firm private practice experience and in-house legal department experience focused on IP, commercial and media and entertainment law.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Distribution and Partnership Deals: Advise on distribution, partnership and promotional deals; Australian & NZ legal considerations and compliance matters; consumer laws for marketing and distribution; accessibility requirements and advertising compliance.
  • Content Sales & Distribution: Supervise content licence agreements with broadcasters, digital service providers; negotiate affiliate channel distribution deals for ESPN channels; acquire local rights ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations and policies.
  • Management and Supervision: Manage one direct report; guide other lawyers; day-to-day management and supervision of an Attorney level lawyer supporting business areas.
  • Policies and Procedures: Formulate, draft and implement Disney legal and regulatory policies, best practice guidelines and training for ANZ business teams; support Global Public Policy and Government Affairs team in formulating policy positions and consultation submissions.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Admitted to practice law in any State or Territory of Australia; current Australian State or Territory practising certificate required.
  • Proven experience advising and/or working in the Australian or comparable international media and entertainment industry.
  • Experience managing, supervising and mentoring junior lawyers / team members.
