Starship Flight Reliability Engineer

We envision a future where humanity boldly explores the cosmos, driven by innovative solutions and unwavering dedication.

This role requires a meticulous individual to identify, document, and manage risks associated with the Starship and Super Heavy vehicles. Collaborating closely with design teams, build teams, and operations teams, our ideal candidate will ensure seamless execution on flight and test days for these complex systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own risk tracking for a Starship Vehicle or component, managing risks throughout testing and flight phases
  • Support technical reviews, including vehicle state machine reviews, joint operations reviews, and CONOPs reviews
  • Organize and lead flight readiness reviews to guarantee technical preparedness and flight data reviews to track action items and lessons learned from flight
  • Communicate technical risks clearly to executive leadership
  • Provide real-time support for tests and flights as authority for vehicle risk
  • Assist in anomaly investigations using tools such as fault trees, fishbones, and 5 whys

To be successful in this position, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline and have at least 5 years of experience in engineering problem-solving. Preferred skills include proficiency in SQL and/or Python, high-level computer application skills, and experience with anomaly resolution and documentation of anomaly reports.
