This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and contribute to the protection of Country, enhancement of biodiversity, and strengthening of community resilience through Traditional Knowledge.
We are seeking a dedicated and culturally aware professional to help shape and deliver Caring for Country outcomes in partnership with Traditional Owners and stakeholders. In this meaningful role, you will integrate First Nations knowledge and practices to support land and waterway health, protect local ecosystems, and foster mutual learning across communities.
About the Role- To co-design and implement Caring for Country programs in collaboration with Traditional Owners and stakeholders;
- To integrate First Nations knowledge and practices to support land and waterway health;
- To protect local ecosystems and foster mutual learning across communities;
- To work within Council's Sustainability Policy and Strategy to drive environmental sustainability.
- Tertiary qualifications in Science, Ecology, Environmental Management or Conservation and Ecosystem Management or similar;
- Current Class C drivers' licence;
- Demonstrated project management experience designing and delivering programs with environmental and community outcomes;
- Experience organising or facilitating educational programs for Aboriginal culture, Caring for Country, and environmental management;
- Understanding of Traditional Owners and the contemporary social and political context;
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and knowledge of First Nations culture;
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including Traditional Owners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents, Aboriginal organisations, and government/non-government agencies;
- Time management, negotiation, conflict resolution, writing and communication skills.

This is a part-time temporary position available up to April 2026. The successful candidate will be required to work Monday to Sunday (unless otherwise stated) in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award.
