About The Opportunity
Are you passionate about protecting Country, enhancing biodiversity, and strengthening community resilience through Traditional Knowledge? We're seeking a dedicated and culturally aware professional to help shape and deliver Caring for Country outcomes in partnership with Traditional Owners and stakeholders.
In this meaningful role, you'll integrate First Nations knowledge and practices to support land and waterway health, protect local ecosystems, and foster mutual learning across communities. Working within Council's Sustainability Policy and Strategy, you'll co-design and implement programs that honour cultural heritage while driving environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities- Co-design and implement Caring for Country programs in partnership with Traditional Owners and stakeholders
- Integrate First Nations knowledge and practices to support land and waterway health
- Protect local ecosystems and foster mutual learning across communities
- Work within the Council's Sustainability Policy and Strategy to drive environmental sustainability
- Tertiary qualifications in Science, Ecology, Environmental Management or Conservation and Ecosystem Management or similar
- Current Class C drivers' licence
- Demonstrated project management experience designing and delivering programs with environmental and community outcomes
- Experience organising or facilitating educational programs for Aboriginal culture, Caring for Country, and environmental management
- Understanding of Traditional Owners and the contemporary social and political context
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and knowledge of First Nations culture
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders including Traditional Owners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents, Aboriginal organisations, the Council, and government/non-government agencies
- Time management, negotiation, conflict resolution, writing and communication skills
