Data Centre Operations Manager

Join a dynamic team to lead Data Centre operations and drive continuous improvement.

We are looking for an experienced people manager to oversee Data Centre operations, with a focus on delivering exceptional service to our customers. The successful candidate will have proven technology management skills, strong technical understanding, and the drive to take Data Centre operations to the next level.

  • Prioritize and assign trouble tickets to data centre technicians and operators, and review the ticket queue for large events.
  • Guide, train, and educate data operations technicians on best practices related to all service owner issues.
  • Manage and deliver mid-size projects.
  • Recommend policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and required SLAs.
  • Manage a diverse team of data technicians with varying skills.
  • Maintain the on-call schedule coordinating absence and vacations.
  • Recruit and train data technicians to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
  • Write and deliver performance reviews for staff.
  • Constantly improve processes and procedures.
  • Assist and manage relationships with external vendors and contractors.
  • Ensure adherence to local Health & Safety standards in all Data Centres.
  • Create and maintain metrics of all aspects of Data Centres and utilize them to drive positive improvements.
  • Assist in implementing service methodologies including incident management, problem management, change management, capacity management.

About the Team

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centres and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or equivalent professional or military experience.
  • 4+ years people management experience with direct reports in an IT related field.
  • 4+ years experience in managing IT systems.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of change concepts, problem and incident management.
