
Indigenous Affairs Leadership Position

This exciting leadership opportunity involves driving First Nations engagement efforts across various platforms, including the UNFCCC. The ideal candidate will work closely with relevant stakeholders to develop and implement effective engagement strategies, mechanisms, and products that support First Nations self-determination.
The role requires leading efforts to build strong relationships with First Nations people and communities, both domestically and internationally. This includes designing and implementing engagement activities, developing procurement plans, and overseeing relevant contracts in accordance with established processes and procedures.
Main Responsibilities- Develop and implement First Nations engagement strategies that align with departmental objectives.
- Build and maintain effective partnerships with First Nations peoples and communities to support information exchange and collaboration.
- Lead First Nations engagement activities, ensuring cultural competency and respect for First Nations cultures and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations cultures, histories, and contemporary issues.
- A track record in building and maintaining effective partnerships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- Highly developed cultural competency and ability to work in partnership with First Nations peoples to deliver outcomes that support self-determination.
