Ambitious Executive Needed to Lead Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agency

About the Role:

This is a highly rewarding opportunity for an exceptional leader to head the National Indigenous Australians Agency, driving forward our commitment to improving the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The CEO will lead the agency as a contemporary, responsive and fit-for-purpose organisation, delivering on government priorities through high-quality leadership and oversight.

Responsibilities:
  1. Lead policy, program and delivery reform in line with government commitments to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
  2. Develop and implement policies, strategies and programs that deliver economic empowerment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, improve mental health and wellbeing, and assist in the maintenance of cultural expression and conservation.
  3. Foster effective partnerships with state and territory governments, peak bodies, service providers, and Indigenous communities to improve outcomes and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrate exceptional cultural capability and respect.
  • Show a strong understanding of the National Agreement on Closing the Gap and capacity to deliver government commitments.
  • Be able to work collaboratively with others to meet organisational objectives.
  • Have a high level of judgement and professionalism.
