Strategic Engagement Specialist

This pivotal role shapes the strategic engagement and public profile of a leading research institution. As a key team member, you'll contribute to designing and implementing engagement strategies that amplify the organization's policy influence and public impact.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement strategic engagement plans for the organization and its programs in collaboration with the Director and project teams.
  2. Lead the development of creative, accessible, and engaging content across digital and social media platforms.
  3. Identify and act on opportunities to amplify the organization's work in political, media, and public contexts through briefings, events, and digital campaigns.
  4. Provide expert advice on media engagement, strategic messaging, and navigating political sensitivities to staff and collaborators.
  5. Manage external contractors and collaborate with internal teams to deliver high-impact media, design, and content outputs.
  6. Ensure engagement activities are inclusive, accessible, and aligned with organizational policies and standards.
Requirements
  1. Demonstrated experience in public affairs, government relations, or strategic communication within policy, research, or political sectors.
  2. Experience producing and managing content across digital platforms, including writing, editing, and coordinating multimedia outputs.
  3. Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse audiences.
  4. Ability to translate complex or politically sensitive policy issues into clear and compelling messaging for non-expert audiences.
  5. Experience working in large, complex organizations, preferably within higher education or government.
  6. Excellent organizational skills and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.

To succeed in this role, you will need excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are also essential, along with the ability to think creatively and develop innovative solutions.
