About Our Yarning

We invite Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and community members from across Australia to collaborate with us on the Our Yarning Advisory Group at Library For All.

Our Yarning is a library of books created by and for community, designed to reflect the cultural identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and inspire a love of reading.

We believe in working together with people who care deeply about making a positive impact. We're proud to bring together passionate, kind, and driven individuals who want to create lasting change for children and communities.

Our mission is to make knowledge accessible to all equally. We leverage innovation in our everyday work to deliver meaningful outcomes for children's education around the world.

Your Role
  • Giving expert advice on cultural and social matters related to publishing.
  • Helping ensure our books are respectful and appropriate.
  • Promoting Our Yarning through your networks and community.
  • Supporting us in building strategic partnerships and securing funding.
What You'll Bring
  • You identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
  • You bring your cultural knowledge and lived experience to the table.
  • You're reliable, respectful, and passionate about storytelling.
  • You have expertise in not-for-profits, business strategy, publishing, education, or children's librarianship.
Key Responsibilities
  • Attend at least 3 meetings per year (each about 2 hours).
  • Stay in touch via email and meetings.
  • Support the program in small ways outside of meetings.
  • Help us maintain a culturally safe and respectful environment.
