Rail Safety Manager

Job Description:

We are seeking a seasoned Rail Safety Manager to join our team and play a critical role in developing and implementing tailored rail safety standards for our expanding network.

The successful candidate will provide expert technical advice, drive continuous improvement of safety management systems, and govern compliance with rail safety requirements.

They will lead a proactive safety culture that prioritises workforce and community wellbeing, and implement strategic initiatives to proactively manage and mitigate rail safety risks.

In this role, you will embed systems that ensure compliance with rail safety legislation and standards, and collaborate with stakeholders and authorities to achieve strategic objectives.

You will drive improvement in safety performance and support project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement tailored rail safety standards
  • Provide expert technical advice and guidance
  • Drive continuous improvement of safety management systems
  • Lead a proactive safety culture
  • Implement strategic initiatives to manage and mitigate rail safety risks
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will have:

A proven ability to navigate complex safety challenges in major infrastructure projects

An ability to build confidence and influence stakeholders at all levels

A strong commitment to safety and the ability to foster a proactive safety culture

Extensive expertise in rail safety legislation, standards, and best practices

Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills

Tertiary Health and Safety or engineering qualifications, or equivalent experience

Extensive experience in the rail industry or related rail infrastructure construction
