About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Rail Safety Specialist to join our team on a fixed-term basis. As a key member of our Health and Safety Technical team, you will play a critical role in developing and implementing tailored rail safety standards for Sydney Metro's expanding network.

  • You will provide expert technical advice and drive continuous improvement of safety management systems, ensuring compliance with rail safety requirements.
  • Your responsibilities will include leading a proactive safety culture that prioritises workforce and community wellbeing, implementing strategic initiatives to manage and mitigate rail safety risks.
Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Develop and implement tailored rail safety standards for Sydney Metro's expanding network.
  • Provide expert technical advice on rail safety matters.
  • Drive continuous improvement of safety management systems.
  • Lead a proactive safety culture that prioritises workforce and community wellbeing.
  • Implement strategic initiatives to manage and mitigate rail safety risks.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A proven ability to navigate complex safety challenges in major infrastructure projects.
  • An ability to build confidence and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • A strong commitment to safety and the ability to foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Extensive expertise in rail safety legislation, standards, and best practices.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications

You will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive experience in the rail industry or related rail infrastructure construction, ideally within NSW.
