Our Centre is seeking compassionate and skilled Intake Volunteers to play a vital role in supporting people seeking asylum.

Job Description

As an Intake Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for individuals and families presenting to our Centre. Your key responsibility will be to assess their needs and determine their eligibility for membership with us. This involves conducting thorough intake assessments, providing referrals to relevant services, and offering ongoing support to those seeking protection within Australia.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Determining eligibility for membership based on individual circumstances
  • Conducting intake assessments to understand clients' needs and provide appropriate referrals
  • Providing support and guidance to help clients navigate the Australian system
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions and assessment results
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Strong experience in casework, including client assessments, referrals, and advocacy
  • A demonstrated understanding of issues affecting asylum seekers within the current Australian context
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
