Job Overview: As an HSE Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring our projects adhere to safety regulations and environmental standards. You will liaise with management and clients on health, safety, and environmental matters, conduct risk assessments, and ensure compliance with legislation.

About the Role:

  • Liaise with management and clients regarding health, safety, and environmental matters, conducting regular site inspections and audits to monitor compliance.
  • Review safety and environmental hazards and perform thorough risk assessments, developing and implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers/Site Supervisors to develop and maintain site documentation, including Safe Work Method Statements, to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Supervise safety site personnel and visitors, providing guidance and training on health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Conduct internal audits and monitor compliance with legislation, updating and maintaining External Resources and Hazard and Risk Registers as necessary.
  • Ensure that risks and controls are updated in line with new requirements, collaborating with stakeholders to implement changes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and near misses, reporting and investigating incidents as required.
  • Implement safety initiatives and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.
  • Train site employees and subcontractors in job safety documentation and procedures, promoting a culture of safety awareness.
  • Monitor the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and provide training as needed, ensuring all personnel have access to necessary equipment.
  • Liaise with work supervisors to assist injured workers, maintaining regular contact to support their rehabilitation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessing.
  • Certificate IV in OHS.
  • Senior First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Construction Industry Card (Blue/White Card).
  • Experience with accident investigation and auditing.
  • Rehabilitation and Return to Work Certificate.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of the Workplace Health & Safety Act and Environmental Protection Act.
  • Understanding of project site-specific Safety and Environmental Plans.
  • Ability to write Safe Work Method Statements to mitigate hazards.
  • Experience managing the reporting of incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Strong communication skills for effective interaction with various stakeholders.

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
