Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Research and Evaluation Lead to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding and driving our commitment to academic rigour and use of research evidence, through coordination of research and evaluation activities and research translation.

This role involves overseeing the implementation of the Evaluation Framework for the National Eating Disorders Strategy 2023-2033, supporting the delivery of other NEDC projects, and contributing to the development of targeted resources and projects aimed at translating both research evidence and NEDC-generated findings into practice.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and monitor National Strategy evaluation activities, developing a detailed project plan and enacting this plan in collaboration with the National Director and team.
  • Contribute to NEDC's role as facilitators of sector collaboration, enhancing the development, translation, and use of research and evaluation frameworks and activities.
  • Oversee and contribute to NEDC's internal evaluation strategy, including supporting ongoing skill development within the team and consistency in evaluation approaches and tools.
  • Lead the development of targeted resources and projects aimed at translating both research evidence and NEDC-generated findings into practice, utilising robust research and evaluation methodologies.
  • Oversee the research methods and analysis required to produce NEDC reports and position papers, and at times, research and write such reports and papers.
  • Identify emerging evidence and trends in the prevention, identification and treatment of eating disorders, provide updates to the NEDC team, and assist NEDC to provide reliable, evidence-based communications to members and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications in social, behavioural or biological sciences or equivalent work skills/experience demonstrating capacity.
  • High level research and evaluation skills with capacity to apply these flexibly across NEDC projects, including skills in field work as well as data analysis and synthesis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and experience in making information accessible to a range of audiences.
  • Experience in preparing high quality reports for a range of government, academic and community audiences.
  • Experience and skills in project coordination in a research, service delivery or community development context and the ability to meet project objectives in line with activity plans and budgets.
  • Understanding of and experience working with research ethics.
  • Commitment to the principles of evidence-based practice and their application in a health context.
  • Excellent organisational capacity, including time management skills, high level of accuracy, attention to detail and proven ability to follow tasks through to completion.
  • Competent-to-advanced use of computer software (MS Office, videoconferencing, collaboration tools, research software).
  • Knowledge of health and/or mental health and/or eating disorders.

Benefits:

This role offers a competitive salary of $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus impressive employee benefits and salary packaging available.
