Astrocomb Research Expert

The Swinburne University of Technology is seeking an exceptional researcher to join our Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing. As an Astrocomb Research Expert, you will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding of astronomical spectrographs using astrocombs.
This is a full-time, 3-year fixed term position at our Hawthorn campus, offering a competitive Academic Level A salary + 17% super (approximately AUD $98,105 - $105,153 per year). You will have the opportunity to work with Professor Michael Murphy, a renowned expert in the field, and collaborate with other researchers within the Centre.
As an Astrocomb Research Expert, your primary responsibility will be to lead investigations into the optimal use of various comb light sources, such as laser frequency combs, to enable groundbreaking scientific measurements. This may include developing new methods for extracting spectra from astronomical detectors and calibrating spectrographs.
You will also be expected to publish research findings in international refereed journals, present at conferences, and mentor students at various academic levels. About You- You hold a PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, physics, photonics, or a closely related field, and/or equivalent relevant experience.
- You have a strong record of research achievement and timely publication, with evidence of self-directed research ability.
- You possess independent and collaborative research skills, with experience in spectroscopy, particularly optical, high-resolution spectroscopy, being highly desirable.
