As a key professional in early childhood support, the role of Early Childhood Coordinator plays a pivotal part in helping families with children aged 0-9 who are facing developmental concerns, delays or disabilities. Working closely with these families, you will gain an in-depth understanding of their child's needs and provide them with the necessary support and resources to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities:The coordinator will conduct observations and utilise information from screening tools and assessments to comprehend the impact of the delay or disability on the child's development.
They will identify and explain the most appropriate pathway of supports, whether this be access to early interventions or support with applying for the NDIS.
Supporting families to connect with local mainstream and community services such as community or child health services, playgroups, childcare, parent support groups, education options, and recreation is also a critical aspect of this role.
Working with the family to identify their goals and priorities for their child is essential.
The coordinator will also support the family with implementing their child's NDIS plan and finding service providers that meet the needs of the child and family.
This role requires a strong understanding of 0-9 years developmental milestones and the ability to work collaboratively with families and other stakeholders to achieve the best outcomes for children and families.
Requirements:A minimum Diploma tertiary qualification in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Allied Health, or other relevant professional field is required.
Understanding of the importance of delivering a tailored and personalised approach to children and their families in early childhood support is also crucial.
Good report writing and IT skills, including database management, are vital in this role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building effective relationships with families and other stakeholders.
Experience providing support to families using a family-focused and strengths-based approach is highly desirable.
