Job Title: Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Family Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting families with children under 18 years old who are at risk of entering or escalating within the statutory child protection system.

The Brighter Futures Program is a voluntary service that works with families to strengthen their relationships and prevent child abuse and neglect. Our approach is centered around building on family strengths and promoting resilience.

  • This role involves engaging with families through regular home visits, conducting initial assessments of family needs, and developing case plans tailored to individual family circumstances.
  • You will use evidence-informed practices and collaborate with other services to support families' long-term goals.
  • A key aspect of this role is providing support that is responsive to each family's unique needs and circumstances.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of family needs and develop case plans that promote family resilience and well-being.
  • Engage with families in a culturally sensitive and empathetic manner, recognizing the importance of family relationships and social connections.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and services to ensure comprehensive support for families.

Requirements:

  • Degree qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Current driver's license.
  • At least two years' experience working with vulnerable populations, particularly in child protection.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal communities.
