Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Marketing & Communications Manager to join our team on a 12-month parental leave contract. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that showcases our brand and values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement earned media strategies to attract coverage in targeted outlets and manage inbound media requests.
  • Support our leadership team on communications-related matters, preparing internal stakeholders for speaking opportunities and media interviews.
  • Act as our brand custodian, ensuring consistency and alignment with our audience, values, and goals.
  • Oversee and create content for Open Source VC, collaborating with our team and subject matter experts to produce high-quality resources.
  • Design and execute marketing initiatives that add value to our community, including webinars, workshops, email campaigns, and digital marketing efforts.
  • Provide guidance, reviews, and resources to our portfolio companies on fundraise announcements and media opportunities.
Requirements
  • A proven track record of transforming marketing and communication strategies into fully executed projects.
  • Ability to work autonomously and with ambiguity, connecting the dots on strategy and executing with minimal resources.
  • Strong brand champion with excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to translate technical concepts and simplify them for various audiences.
  • High judgement in decision-making, balancing risk and reward, and consistently making sound choices in complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Collaborative mindset, working with multiple senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams to deliver outcomes that align with business goals.
