About the Role

The Financial Controller will play a critical role in overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Financial Management: Develop and implement effective financial strategies to drive business growth and profitability.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow management to ensure timely payment of invoices and suppliers.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Prepare annual budgets and forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Financial Reporting: Provide regular financial reports to stakeholders, including board members and senior executives.
  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and develop a small team of finance professionals, providing guidance and support to ensure the smooth operation of financial functions.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CA qualifications preferred but not mandatory).
  • Proven experience in financial management, ideally within the construction industry or a project-based environment.
  • Familiarity with small to mid-sized business financial operations, with an emphasis on flexibility and hands-on involvement.
  • Awareness of the financial challenges faced by smaller construction firms, such as tight margins and fluctuating project pipelines.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management, crucial for supporting multiple smaller projects.
  • Strategic and proactive in identifying financial risks and opportunities, providing solutions that align with the business's size and scope.
  • Willingness to be involved in broader business activities as needed, reflecting the collaborative nature of a smaller firm.
