Job Description:

The Head of the Aboriginal Unit will be a visionary leader who guides the unit in placing Aboriginal health research at the heart of its work. This senior leadership role requires cultural, strategic, and operational leadership to ensure research is guided by Aboriginal ways of knowing, being, and doing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a committed team to deliver on four key aims: cultural governance, research alignment, workforce capability, and community engagement.
  • Provide cultural awareness training and strengthen awareness and understanding of the Institute's research within Aboriginal communities nationwide.
  • Build career pathways for Aboriginal people engaged in research.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will be a visible and trusted Aboriginal leader with demonstrated experience in senior leadership and team management, strong knowledge of Aboriginal self-determination, cultural governance, and capacity building, and understanding of Aboriginal research, design, and translation in diverse settings.
