Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Legal Leader to join our team in a key leadership role.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced legal professional to lead and manage a team of legal services professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic advice to senior leaders, overseeing the Department's litigation practice, and directing consultation and research on legislation and legal policy.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing and providing legal and legislative services across various acts and areas of law. They must also possess high-level analytical and communication skills, as well as a demonstrated and comprehensive knowledge of legal services and financial resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and Manage a Team: Provide guidance and direction to a team of legal services professionals to achieve organizational objectives.
  2. Provide Strategic Advice: Offer high-quality legal and strategic advice to senior leaders on a wide range of issues.
  3. Oversee Litigation Practice: Supervise the Department's litigation practice, including child protection applications and briefs to counsel.
  4. Direct Consultation and Research: Conduct consultation and research on legislation, points of law, and legal policy.
  5. Represent the Department: Represent the Department at senior levels on committees and forums as required.

Qualification Requirements:

  • A Bachelor of Laws Degree or approved equivalent.
  • Eligibility for admission to practice Law in Western Australia.
  • Extensive post-admission legal experience.
