The Role
We're seeking a skilled and collaborative Systems Engineer Lead to own the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems engineering, integration, and testing activities across the full lifecycle of cutting-edge aerospace vehicles and their supporting elements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead and support a multidisciplinary team of systems and test engineers.
- Manage systems engineering activities across the full lifecycle—from concept to deployment.
- Collaborate with other Engineering Leaders to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.
- Continuous improvement of company tools and processes for systems engineering, integration, and testing activities across the lifecycle, ensuring consistent application across all projects.
- Coordinate systems engineering training initiatives for engineering team members.
- Team management for shared systems engineering resources.
- Creation and technical review of systems engineering artefacts.
- Oversee integration, testing, and specialty engineering activities—including reliability analysis, FMECA, and root cause investigations—in alignment with the HLS Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP).
- Perform top-down systems design for new products, including functional analysis, decomposition, and requirements derivation.
- Plan and conduct system integration and verification planning, including in-house environmental testing.
The Person
To succeed on this role you must be open and receptive to change, have a 'can-do' attitude, be adaptable to shifting priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
To be successful you will need:
- Bachelor degree in an Engineering or STEM discipline.
- Experience in a team lead, engineering management, or coordination role in a complex setting (approximately 5 years+)
- Hands-on experience in systems engineering (approximately 5 years+)
- Familiarity with the full systems engineering lifecycle, from operational concept through to system verification and deployment.
- Strong leadership with a supportive, hands-on approach.
- Agile decision-making and a logical approach to technical challenges.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- Resilience and adaptability in complex environments.
- Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Office, Jira, and MS Project.

- Driver's License, preferred.
- Background checks, including Australian National Police clearance check.
