The Mechanical Lead Engineer will oversee a team of engineers in designing and developing hypersonic flight vehicles and related support systems.
- Manage the entire engineering lifecycle for mechanical systems, from design to production and testing.
- Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers to achieve project objectives.
- Provide technical guidance and expertise across the broader engineering team.
- Review and approve mechanical designs and analyses for quality and compliance.
- Ensure that mechanical designs are optimized for manufacturability, reliability, and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop new technologies and processes.
- Work closely with suppliers and customers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical components.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of mechanical systems, including conceptual design, detailed design, prototyping, and testing.
- Manage and mentor a team of mechanical engineers to achieve project goals.
- Develop and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Contribute to the development of new technologies and processes.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize project objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) / Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or eligibility to obtain.
- Demonstrated prior experience (at least 5 years) of experience in mechanical systems design and simulation, within aerospace or other high-technology industries.
- Proven track record in leading engineering teams with a collaborative, hands-on leadership style.
- Experience in configuration management and the use of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems for managing mechanical designs and CAD data.

- Strong expertise in mechanical design and analysis, backed by practical hands-on experience with computer simulations and analysis tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts.
- Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to identifying and solving engineering challenges.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
