Housing Support Specialist

The Housing Support Specialist plays a crucial part in our team, working directly with clients to identify their needs and challenges. They develop individualized plans to address these issues, using techniques such as active listening and conflict resolution. The specialist provides basic life skills training and advocates for clients, resolving difficult situations and maintaining a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in developing resident support plans and delivering services in collaboration with the support team.
  • Build rapport and trust with residents through professional relationships.
  • Participate in client intakes, wellness checks, and room setup/cleanup.
  • Distribute essential items, perform room cleanouts, and assist with daily activities.
  • Help clients with applications and referrals, and develop short-term intervention plans within program guidelines.
  • Evaluate plan effectiveness, report progress, and discuss concerns with supervisors to resolve identified problems.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related human/social service field or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of one year recent experience in a related field.
  • Basic computer skills, knowledge of non-violent crisis intervention techniques, and harm reduction approach.
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, and communicate effectively with clients and coworkers.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, communication, and collaboration skills.
