Job Description

The Office of General Counsel requires a seasoned In-House Legal Expert to provide high-level legal advice and support to senior executives. This role is ideal for a qualified lawyer with experience in corporate and commercial law, looking to bring their expertise to an in-house setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide independent legal advice to senior executives on strategic matters.
  • Manage the organization's exposure to risk by reviewing and negotiating contracts, and advising on commercial activities.
  • Write statements of reasons for administrative decisions, and update policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Process applications to access information, and prepare submissions to decision-makers, government, and other relevant entities.
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A bachelor's degree in law or Australian lawyer admissions and eligibility to hold an unrestricted Queensland practising certificate.
  • Strong critical and strategic legal analysis and research skills, with demonstrated ability to produce practical solutions to complex issues.
  • Minimum 7+ years PAE, with desirable 4 years' experience in private practice corporate/commercial litigation.
  • Prior in-house experience and administrative experience will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of government structures and processes will also be highly regarded.
