Leading Legal Expert

The Office of General Counsel seeks a legal professional to provide expert advice and support.
Job DescriptionThe primary function of this role is to deliver high-quality legal services, ensuring the smooth operation of the organization. This involves:
- Providing written and oral legal advice on complex matters.
- Reviewing, negotiating, and advising on contracts and commercial activities.
- Preparing statements of reasons for administrative decisions.
- Developing policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Processing applications to access information.
- Creating submissions to decision-makers, government entities, and other relevant stakeholders.
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- A bachelor's degree in law or equivalent qualification as an Australian lawyer with eligibility to hold an unrestricted Queensland practising certificate.
- Strong critical and strategic legal analysis and research skills, demonstrating ability to produce practical solutions to complex issues.
- Minimum 7+ years PAE experience, preferably in private practice corporate/commercial litigation.
- Prior in-house experience and administrative experience are highly regarded.
- Knowledge of government structures and processes is also highly valued.
